What makes SWAMI tick?
    #536968 - 01/31/02 02:21 PM (22 years, 1 month ago)

You are always posing questions and challenges, so now I'm goning to take a turn. (Mind you, this is good natured!) I am interested in what makes the Swamster tick. I would like to know 5-10 things that are goals in your life. Please state specific examples. ie: If you say happiness, please specify what your personal ideal of happiness is. I am hoping that this will help me in understsnding our differences. Thanks for your time.

Actually if you were to read what I wrote, there is no hate involved at all. I am just trying to better understand where swami is coming from. I realize that in the past, that I have acted in an unfair way to some of his posts, and I am sincerely interested in what fuels his fire.

Swamster is a good boy. Self-centered, smart, educated, possibly rich or at least middle-class. I suppose he is a bit under 30, likely of jewish ancestry, unmarried, may have had a few long-term relationships (all broke apart after a year or more with much pain to both parties, I might add). And this, considering that he is pretty good-looking. Can't quite discern his location... California I think, but don't quote me on this one. Let's see, what else? A few trips he had on various psychedelics have made his inquisitive mind wonder, so he came here to look for answers, except all were so outrageous that he couldn't accept them. Shroomism may be right, he is close to crossroads in his world-view, but will never admit it. He would say that disillusioning people is what makes him tick. In reality his desparate wish is to become disillusioned himself. Otherwise he'd get pretty tired of this board and people here, who aren't usually that much fun to disillusion  Oh, well...

Very humerous Grib! I enjoy your sense of humor. Yet I am still looking forward to the Swamster's reply.

Swami is an 80 year old woman with 4 inch thick glasses and a big dog that she rides on to the store.

Swami, I have to say that I am quite surprised at your lack of a timely response!

He's just a guy that doesn't believe everything he reads, no biggie.

It's interesting to read about how many activities he excels at...chess master, athlete, martial arts teacher (i think)...Pretty sure there are more but I can't remember.

That is because I really am not concerned much about personalities, nor what anyone's opinion of me is. (Some really horrific people throughout history were quite likeable! That is how they get into positions of power.) My views should stand or fall or their own merit.

I realize that this is mainly a social gathering for many and not really an exchange of ideas, but that is not why I visit and post here.

It's interesting to read about how many activities he excels at..
Perhaps that is boasting, but I excel at things that I get into because I study hard to understand the dynamics behind each of these various activities. I am not naturally gifted. My accomplishments all come by hard work. I could not have excelled if I had a closed mind as many have stipulated. I enjoy new things and pushing the envelope of what my mind and body can do.

When my sifu wants me to learn a new move, he doesn't talk about it, he demonstrates it.

I mention the backgamnmon (only mediocre in chess) thing because I don't believe in mental dice control and luck, but in odds and strategies, which enabled me to become a world-class player. My approach works without any mumbo-jumbo. When I played for serious money, I was always amused by my opponents crying about my "luck". This only served to blind them to their own errors.

Look at the successful cultivators here. If they get contaminations or poor yields, they don't cry about how unlucky they were. They study their methodology and attempt to correct their mistakes. (which is the scientific method in action).

Research, understanding, practice... that is the real magic!

First of all, I thank you for your response! I am not interested in the social gathering of this forum, I AM interested in the ideas that people have. I had no idea that you had any interest in chess, backgammon, martial arts etc. This is what I was hoping to learn through my question. I would always like to know more if you are interested in sharing. Thanks again!

Will you send me a spore print or syringe in lieu of money? I have mentioned in other threads that I am from California so...

I was actually hoping you would offer to do it for free out of good faith... I don't think I care enough to actually pay for it....

But, the game I can offer... (I just realized this could be a fun game for the whole of shroomery... I'll go and make a separate thread.... hehe...)
