Storing dried mushies
    #5373308 - 03/07/06 03:49 AM (17 years, 10 months ago)

Hi all,

I've read from a number of various sources that once shrooms are dry you can just store them in a zip-lock bag. What about storing them in an air-tight container with about 3 or 4 packs of desiccant? Is it better if I just store them in the air-tight container without the packs of desiccant?

Thanks

Ya, I keep mine in a air-tight locking jar thing with a little packet of silica gel in it. I think its silica gel but yes its a desiccant.

If the shrooms are fully cracker dry and the bag/jar is air tight it isn't necessary. Of course it doesn't hurt anything.

I just keep them in zip locks... but they don't last long for me. Not because they go bad, but if I have mushrooms sitting around either myself, my wife, or my friends are going to eat them eventually lol.

Zips have always worked for me over the time I have stored them though.

desicant is better because it stays dry longer. it's actually recommended that they are stored in this manner.

personally i just keep them in a ziplock freezer bag like everyone else.
