Dunk then roll lightly in vermiculite right after birthing. Expose to 12 hours of light per day. Lots of fresh air and a nice high humidity.
I also flip the cakes upside down so the wider part of the cake is actually the top inside the FC. GL man

well, without trying to sound like a jack ass..
1) you could crumble in a small pan...case...and wa-la! better fruting..
2) DEFFINATELY dunk and roll in vermiculite for a more even pin set
3) clear aborts to allow more nutes for follow-thru fruits...
hope I helped, wasn't trying to be a smart-ass with (1), but man...its easy to do and a BIG difference...no real extra work..

^^^ i won't disagree w/ these guys, cuz they know what they're talking bout.
but here are a few tips (if you're growing cakes in perlite-humidified terrariums)...
1) set the cakes directly on the perlite for a 1-2 days before and after each flush.
2) after the first full flush, clean/shave your cakes and then cut them in half- exposing more surface area means more pinning area.
3) try adding flax seed to your brf/verm mix. more nutes = better flushes.
casing IS better, but when you case you have to pay coser attention to humidity levels and FAE. you have to crawl before you can walk, and its (IMO) better to get used to cakes and how they work before stepping up. others will disagree, but everybody learns differently.
don't think for one second that you can't get good yields from properly grown cakes.
however, you MUST understand that one day you will NEED to step up your game if you want out of this world yields.
that prolly doesn't help at all, does it?
