a quick one....

ok im making the plunge and going to try to grow some shrooms for the first time, im going to grow my cakes in a container with peralite on the bottom for the humdity factor and in my water heater room, which stays in the 85 degree range, so i was wondering if i could crumble up one of my cakes and use the casing method, as well as just brithing from the cakes.
so i would have 3 cakes and now heres my idea.....crumble one cake and use sterile vermiculite as the casing on a styrofoam tray, only elevate the tray so the peralite underneath would still allow for humidity and yet provide more surface space for more shrooms, would this work? any thoughts on improving this?
