psylocibin breakdown?

Among a million other opinions I read somewhere that 400 degrees was the ACTUAL breaking point for psylocibin deterioration. Is this true? And if it is then wouldn't it be safe to say that one could effectively dry their mushrooms in the oven at say, 150 degrees?

Meh, as long as you use indirect heat to do it, baking your mushrooms might not work out the way you wanted, but yeah, 150 degrees should be no bother.

Baking and dehydrating are two separate functions. Dehydrators use heat to accelerate water evaporation, whereas baking use direct heat to bring the temperature of the product up to the ambient temperature of the heating unit. Dehydrators use air that is vented through the bottom for moist air to leave. This is not the same action as baking.
The goal is to evaporate the water in the mushrooms not savor it with baking. Use a dehydrator or fan to accomplish this goal and you'll be good to go.

Yeah baking it wouldn't really remove much of the moisture.

Both are essentially the same form of dry heat. The only thing that differentiates the two are the fanning action of the dehydrator. Would one place a (metal) fan in an oven and leave the door vented, one would have a ghetto dehydrator albeit a tad hard to regulate that low a temperature.
A convection oven would not be unlike a dehydrator in that respect.

or you could just use one of those small plugin room heaters that cost 40 bucks and not workky about putting a freaking fan IN your oven and leaving it oven. im sure you will make up that 40 buck on your electric bill pretty quickly.

I was more making a point than writing a tek. The oven and fan would be less of a strain on your electric bill (as opposed to a space heater)in the long run. Not to mention a tad safer.

One of my friends tried to bake some shrooms we had picked out of a field, when he pulled them out it was one big gushy mess, I personally wouldn't suggest it. thats my oppinion from experience.

Without a fan, that is what you can expect. Also if you choose to use an oven to dry, you need to use the rack only and not a pan.
Air flow is key to drying whatever method you employ.
