Help with identification
    #5371271 - 03/06/06 03:28 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

Hello all, I was wondering if you guys could help me identify a mushroom I found on my friends property.

I found the mushroom in a patch of woods, growing out of the ground where there were a bunch of dead moist leaves. The gills look a tan/off white color. The stem seems hollow and is pretty solid. I havent taken a print of it yet. The cap is brown, it goes from light brown (near the edge of the cap) to dark brown at the point of the cap. Also the specs that are on the cap are just dirt not spots on the mushroom. The mushroom was found in Tennessee. Thanks

Hi bonnahoo

Welcome to the Shroomery.

We need a spore print to begin ID on LBM (little brown mushrooms).

Also, IT really does not help us when your thumbails are the same size as the enlargements or close to them.

mj

It is not a psychoactive species

That is an entoloma. The spore print should be pink. Try to get a print.

It is poisonous.

However, since no microscopic analysis is available, it cannot be determined wether it is entoloma strictius or vernum.

the lack of fluffy basal mycelium but presencr of white runners, presence of white scruff on stem apex, slightly twisted stem, and dark brown cap, together, confound me.  :whoyougonnacall:
