Perlite Question?
    #5371173 - 03/06/06 02:59 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

Ok...My jars are still colonizing and im just getting ready for the next step...Perlite...I already got it and im def gonna use it for humidity, cause from everything i read it keeps it 95-100%. But i have seen some people soak it in water and strain out the excess. And then i see some people put a inch of perlite and then 1/2 inch of water....Whats the best way...Im sure both work or they would not be in Teks...I would like to go the Soaking it and then straining it route...Lemme know what people think

My poor mans pod is working quite well.
If you want a really good and decently priced FC (fruiting chamber) then follow this tech. Requires little or no fanning.

Just take the perlite and put it into a pasta strainer. Then soak it good with your kitchen sink and let it drain with a couple of shakes. I pour some hydrogen peroxide into it and just throw it into the FC. You'll have more than enough humidity

Correct. Any standing water at all will lower the humidity. Be sure the perlite is well drained, and you'll have 98% humidity for three weeks or more, at which time you can remove, wash, drain and replace the perlite for the next cycle.
