Why are my pot plants turning yellow? and dry?

I have a few pot plants started under a flourescent bulb right now. They are in like 6inch pots and are about 3-3.5 weeks old. They recently started browning and turning yellow and dry on the larger bottom leaves. It has slowly crept up and is now almost to the top middle area. I have been giving them the proper water, and fertilizing every couple of days. I also added some trace minerals to the soil. The browning started on the outer edges of the larger bottom leaves, and slowly went to the whole thing. I did mix up a new batch of fertilizer about 4-5 days ago. It could have been a little strong, but i didnt give them much. And i havent given them any since, and the drying and browning keeps going. What could the problem be?

im not sure, but i did think that the water could have something to do with it. How could i go about figuring out the PH?

You can find a cheap pH testing kit at most petstores near the aquarium section.

yellow leaf = under feeding of the plant.saturated medium do to poor drainage.low light levels....got that from my grow book ..hope it helps.

pH is the best guess, could also be Nute burn... maybe over watering? The plants don't need water every day, its best to let them dry out before watering again, it promotes root growth, and the more root mass the more bud mass

I've found that overwatering can have that very effect. Are the healthy leaves pointing downward rather than horizontal?
Also, you said you're fertilizing every few days? Unless you're giving absolutely miniscule concentrations of nutrients, that is way too often. Since they're still fairly young, I'd mix the fertilizer slightly below recommended amounts on the instructions and fertilize them every 2 weeks or so. You should be able to tell when they are getting hungry since the green in the leaves will be a bit more pale compared with the deep green of a well-fed plant. But if you start to see BRIGHT yellowing in the growing tips it's a sign that you've overdone the fertilizing.

How big are the plants ?
If they are seedlings with just a few sets of leaves... Over watering is more likley. Only water them when they dry out and the pots are light to lift.
If they are established clones with a bit of size.... nute burn is more likley. Flush the pots with ph corrected water to wash the excess nutes out then give them only water for a week.

yellowing from what ive experienced is always do to a ph imbalance. either youre not giving them enough or youre giving them to many. check the ph.

Fertilizing every couple days? They are only 3.5 weeks old? In my oppinion, there is your problem. I personally only give fertilizer once in the vegging stage, and once in the flowering. Sounds to me like you burnt them with too much fertilizer.

Diagnosis: Too many Nutes, causing burning and a pH imbalance. As well as over watering.
Your either gonna wanna get them into some fresh virgin soil soon, or flush the soil of the nutrients with water every few days, depending on how bad things are. Just remember, if your growing out of a good organic soil, your plants aren't going to need nutes more than every 3-4 weeks. Live and Learn,

That is too much nutes, and if you are using something like Miracle Grow potting soil, that could be a problem too. Actually, if you are using pre-fertalized potting soil, then you shouldn't even think about giving them nutes for at least a month.
Therefore, I agree with AKSE
