Whats wrong with my setup

I keep losing bins to green contams and I dont know what to do. I have no problem with jars and spawn, I do however run into problems with spawning to poo. Usually i have at least 2 out of 5 ruined before I even case them. For my procedure, I wipe down the monotubs with bleach, use plenty of spawn and cover with press n seal w/micropore patches. I even let them go a week before checking on them. WTF am I doing wrong?!?! Thanks in advance

Hmm, you might want to elaborate on how you prepare the poo and casing mix, but off the bat I'd say that wrap probably won't provide nearly as much FAE as some nice big polyfil holes would. Low FAE in a non-sterile environment (which is what most mono-tubs are) is high risk.
Are you using polyfil?

Once past getting the spawn colonized, sounds like something in your procedures isn't clean, and/or the poo is not aged, dried, leached and/or properly pasteurized.

I started out with just straw, now I'm on to Tenn Stud with just a little bit of straw. I have about 6 - 1" polyfill holes in my tubs. I figured that my pasteurization of the straw was off, but I'm pretty sure I've fixed that in recent months. I have a hot plate and I let it sit at 160 for an hour or slightly more. Just recently I've switched to microwaving my casing layer, but I dont know if I'm gonna continue it. PC'ing is more reasuring if nothing else

Sounds like the straw is where your problem is.

After I mix my spawn with poo and cover with press n seal, I put 3 garbage bags over it to block out the light. I didn't think they needed much fresh air while colonizing... would that cause a problem?

sounds like your problem is in the way you case. somewhere between getting them from jar to casing is your problem. try to be more clean when you do casing. buy a hepa filter or use your oven like a flowhood.

when you say casing... you mean when applying the actual casing layer or spawning from jars to poo, cause I'm pretty sure thats the step where the contams are coming from

...whether or not they would create a lack of air and cause contams to move in?!?!

There isn't really a definite consensus on which way is best. I personally incubate with one garbage bag lightly covering.

I'm a little worried about light getting through, so thats why I used 3 bags. How important is fresh air while colonizing poo? I thought that fresh air wasn't a big deal until pinning. I keep the bin under my bed so there isn't much air exhange.

That's what I'm saying. Alot of experienced people think that light isn't a problem during incubation and that fresh air is very important.

i've accidently had a bin get some light while colonizing before, it sucked big time. I had a bunch of mushrooms inside the substrate and rot.
