Dry Cleaning Shrooms

Not like taking them to the cleaners... But, to clean them after they are dry. Is this how you guys do it? I mean, many of you grow shrooms in poo. It seems like most people would not like the idea of eating tiny poo particles on their shrooms. I know most of it you prolly shake off. Buth then you got little specs of that vermiculite that you use stuck on the stems like little gold flakes. Do you guys clean that off after they are dry? Just wondering.

What do you do about those little flecks of verm that seem to affix themselves to the skin of the stems, and they can't be dusted, shook, or rubbed off?

I do a little shake before I stick them in the dehydrator and a good rub down after they are dry. Vermiculite can be stubborn sometimes and in my experience only comes off entirely when they're dry. You will not hurt the mushrooms by rubbing them down. I do this with my bare hands, not a cloth.

"Peel" them off with a knife, or, if you can afford, liberally cut off the bottoms of the stems

there are little brushes you can get to clean off your wet mushrooms. They look like tiny, bristled, hairbrushes. If you can find a nail brush thats a good equivalent.
persoanlly i just take off as much as i can before i dry and the rest just crumbles off fairly easily after they are dried.

Kewl. So if you're not hard up for total weight at the end, you can cut the dirty mycelium clump off the end? Then brush the reamaining flecks of verm off when they are dry? Seems like a good idea.

Fraggin I belive shrooms are not fagile when they are done. You can do what ever you want. You can slice and dice it if you want. You can crush it into a little ball if you want however that would cause some oxidation. in other words do not worry lol if you got shrooms you are home free.

I just harvest & dry the puppies in a dehydrator. Once cracker dry, any verm clinging to them, will brush right off.
