Is your cool mist like my cool mist?

Right off the bat, I'd like to state that the area I live in experiences swings in humidity, but in my house the humidity generally stays in the mid 40's to upper 50's. I'm on the low side of the comfort zone.
Now, my cool mist, I'm beginning to wonder what's up with it because people generally say a cool mist will get the RH up to 80-90. My cool mist provides 99% RH regardless of how dry it is. I'm currently running 3 fairly large tubs off of it, still 99%. If I shine a flashlight down into the tubs, I can see an extremely fine mist swirling around. I'm doing a double tub (yes I'm pipeing in FAE on a DT), pins are starting to form, the casing layer hasn't dryed out a bit.
I originally had 2 FCs, one for pre pin and one for post pin. I drilled tons of holes in the post-pin chamber and the humidity was still in the high 90's, so I ended up offsetting the lid so there were gapeing holes, that lowered it into the mid 80s. Just curious if anyone else is getting such high RH off the cool mist.

most people use coolmists for martha set ups that have a lot more volume. i believe, because you are using a coolmist running into an smaller, enclosed tub..... the humidity has no where to escape except for the holes you created... maybe you should put it on a timer? or add a fan to your tubs to blow drier air in to lower humidity..
my coolmist keeps my martha at like 85% +

Well, I'm running 3 large tubs off 1 cool mist, and together, they're probably slightly smaller than a martha. You're right though, I keep things tight.
The mist is pretty cool, at first I thought I was seeing dust _outside_ the FC. I start looking real hard, and all the sudden I'm seeing this magical world of swirling mist eddying around in all directions, little currents of air revealed by the mist like smoke from a cigarette. Neato!

Rahz my single Coolmist keeps my entire Martha at 98-99% RH on its own also! This really surprised me, I have a ultra sonic hooked up but I never need to use it.

I would like the humidity a tad lower but I dont wanna run it on a timer because I want fresh air pumped in there constantly. I only have two holes cut in the bottom for water run-off, maybe I should poke a few more holes in there?

If you run the coolmist continuously it will waterlog your substrates. It will actually begin to look like rain in there. That's why you're having so much runoff. A coolmist is really at it's best if you shoot to maintain 80% to 90%. Above that and dripping/standing water is going to be a real problem. I have the exact same model humidifier. if you'll run it 1 minute on, 5 minutes off, you'll maintain 85% or so with very little to no dripping water. RR
