60 Minutes Tonight
    #5368081 - 03/05/06 05:33 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

I'm just watching it waiting for the Marc Emery part to come on.

Theres a big piece about the torture of detainees in Afghanistan. One of the detainees was chained to the wall and beaten until his legs were pulpified. This from the American Medical Examiner. The ME said his legs were so badly injured that if he had survived, his legs would have been amputated.

Fucking Sick. Those soldiers over there deserve ever bullet, IED and ambush they get.

Good thing for them, sure.

You can continue your "Support the Troops" shit for as long as you want.

Fact is, every person on that show knew what they were doing was wrong and did it anyway. You can only use the "I was only following orders" thing for so long. Theres got to be a limit on how mcuh shit you can pawn off that way.

These guys killed several people, the soldiers I mean. People in chains who were of no threat to them, people they say they KNEW were innocent of ANYTHING.

Fuck if I'm going to waste any tears on them.

Your post reeks of absolute idiocy.

I guarantee you that when some Muslim nutcase blows himself up you are one of the first people to parade out how P.C. you are by saying, "This action doesn't represent the bulk of Muslims...blah blah". But, if an incredibly tiny minority of American soldiers act in an inappropriate manner then you scream for blood.

you know the lead singer from tool was in the army? but then if youre not a tool fan i guess this fact is pointless. My argument however is that you are generalizing alot of good people with something some bullies did.

Have you seen me post that? I wasnt aware we had had any communication together.

Cant you see that your doing the exact same thing I am? It comes down to that you think the troops are in the right for invading a sovieregn country and precipitating a civil war. I feel the inhabitants of the country are right to resist said occupation.

You say its an "Incredibly Tiny" percentage of soldiers beating soldiers and killing people. Of course this is the case as only a small percentage of the soldiers are in Prison Operations. I'm sure if you gave them the chance, more of your soldiers would be happy to kill an innocent taxi-driver.

Do you think the % of muslims who commit suicide attacks is higher? 'm willing to bet it isnt. More soldiers are killers than Muslims are terrorists.

I was making an educated guess.

Huh?!? Where did I ever say that? If you were to look through all of my posts in this forum about the Iraq war you will see that I am vehemently against it....but not for the usual reasons.

When I was talking about Muslims blowing shit up I wasn't really referring to the Iraq situation. I was referring the the very numerous incidents of Muslims extremists around the world killing innocent civilians.

The part that gave me chills was when the one soldier was asked if he felt any sympathy for the detainees that had been killed in the prison and he said something along the lines of "Yeah I feel a little sympathy....that they weren't born Americans".

Ugh.

Sounds like you need to study some contemporary film/media theory.

To me this is just war. People dont understand that war is uncivilized and brutal, There are no rules in it. The terrorists attack civilians and use guerilla bomb attacks on iraqi and coalition forces because its an effective tactic that they have distinctly honed in.

Coalition forces are put into a situation where waging a war of attrition is the only effective tactic in combatting a insurgency such as the taliban and the various groups in Iraq.

To me i see this action no different from any other tactic in war. Deplorable maybe but nothing new.

If a raghead kills my buddy, I'll find the raghead's buddies and torture them. I will give them blood transfusions and fluids and nutrients intravenously. Then I will shock them back to life and torture them some more.

I'd do that as many times as I could just to see their faces change, scream in agony. Then I would kill them and send them to paradise. Shit, they are gonna get 72 virgins anyway. To them death ain't shit, they will still get 72 virgins to fuck for all eternity.

War is Hell. When you are on the sideliness, you have the freedom to see it in disgust. Thankfully most of us will never be put in a situation where everything goes. Everybody is a target, everybody dies. That's human nature for ya'll. Pretty, ain't it?

There is a huge difference between the soldier in the field and the asshole politician that put them there. If you cannot see the difference between the two, then my respect for you dropped, a lot.

> You can only use the "I was only following orders" thing for so long.

And yet, the American public re-elected the people that are giving those orders... as part of the American public, you are as guilty, if not more so, than the soldiers that are only following orders. You approved the people that gave those orders. Even if you didn't vote for Bush, Cheney, and Rummy, you have allowed them to remain in office. Shame on you.
