So, today I went in my backyard and was turning some mulch under a rhododendron tree, and found a good size colony of mycelium in clumps of dirt and roots at the base of the tree. I don't know what KIND of mycelium this is, but would it be a good hunch it's Cyanescens since it's growing under a rhododendron tree in mulch? Should I just leave the mycelium there and wait until fall to let it do it's thing, or is there anything I could do myself? Thanks, zl

Mycology is a tough science to master. Use extreme caution.

Extreme caution? Well, I was expecting more of the "leave it outside with woodchips," replies. Maybe that's what I should do, I suppose. But I'm not sure. ----------That's why I asked.----------

Let it fruit and watch it. If it produces fruit, post a picture of it here and see if you can identify it.
It can be a good learning experience.
Sorry my answer was not what you were expecting.

Could be all sorts of different types of mycelium.
The only way your gonna know for sure is add some Alder wood chips(or another type of hard wood chips) and see what pops up later.
