Patience man. It can sometimes take more than one trip.

The key to finding mushrooms:
Hunt often, and hunt in lots of different places.

I don't know what part of Texas you are from or were you are hunting. Try looking in the low land areas were cows frequent (more likely to have water not far underground). Its been hotter up here in Conroe with no rain so they are few and far between at the moment. Generally look in the longer native grass, in pine forest areas were cows frequent, or North facing tree lines during a prolonged sunny hot period. Pine forest are great if the cows go through them because the fallen needles helps keep the ground/shit from drying out too much and the evergreen trees help shade from the intense Texas sun. Look on a map for a river or permanent creek that sometimes floods into cow fields. Don't get discouraged though, as was stated by other members you don't always find shrooms when hunting. If you can wait till' the next good rain out here then you will have some luck...........105/290
