getting back in

i'm planning to get back into growing. and going to the local hardware store to get my light set ups. i had done some indoor action using metal halide...however i have seen more newer generation moving to HPS (sodium).....can someone tell me what's the difference(s)????? waht to make sure i'm getting my money worth.

Go with HPS, you get more lumans per watt that you buy.

Be sure to use some High quality ventilation.

Sodiums are a different color specturm, more reds and oranges, this is better for flowering. Halides are blue/green spectrum, they make better vegetative lights, internodes are shorter. The reason most people get sodium is that it will perform well for vegetative and great for flowering, so it is the best to get if you can only get one light. Good luck and have fun :sun:

I know that there is a link somewhere with a calculator for figuring out how much your light will cost. You just need your power bill in order to get the rate in your area. Let me see if I can find it.
But as a ballpark, when we ran a 400watt on 24hr schedule for almost the whole month, I would say an increase of about 15-20 dollars :sun:

Edit: Well I just found the link, shitty part is it was on overgrow :sad: sorry, maybe there is another copy somewhere else, Ill keep loking.

i can live with a 15-20 increase, and i'm going with 250watt. just enough for 4 babies...the harvest should last me a year...hehe
