Ok I heard that for woodchips to have active mushrooms growing on them, they have to be about 5 years old, is this true? I remember Ice House Shaman was posting pics of cyans he found on woodchips thta he said looked pretty new.

So please help me with this cause im thinking about transfering mycelium into a few places, and also thinking about checking some woodchips this fall that have recently been placed in various places.(within the last month or two). So please help me with my question.

If you are transferring myc, the fresher the chips, the better.

Ok thanks for the info, I also would like to know if the woodchips can have cyans growing on them without mycelium transfer and still be pretty new, because im sure Ice House Shaman found the cyans in a new, landscaped piece of property with new woodchips placed there, without anyone transfering any mycelium to them.

They would have to be at least a year old I think. It would take at least that long for wild spores to germinate, myc to grow, and fruits to form.
