Yah thought some of u guyz might want to see a little bit of the setup. She's still under mad construction...hopefully she'll treat me well. :P
6' x 4' x 2' ... coolmist at the bottom, filter disk at top with fishtank bubbler on the floor for CO2.
Here's the hood. the purifier is HEPA. i'm considering putting in plastic (?) arm gloves to eliminate all sources of contam. Haven't found anything that works that'll still allow for mobility.
Buddy hard at work :P He's gonna kick my ass for posting it ! hahaha

Oh most certainly. Its painted with some Poly-soemthingorother paint, designed for interior or exterior concrete, wood, etc.
And all the seams are calked as well.

assuming that hepa filter is pumping clean air into the flow hood, you dont need arm hols since its a positive pressure system nothing can flow into the holes. just spray your arms/hands/gloves with 70% iso-OH and your set.

Well i don't know if it is a 'positive air flow'. It would seem to me, as air screams past the arm holes it would suck outside air in. And i need the armholes to work. (obviously hah) A better way to do it would be to have a more square tupperware and taper off the corners so as not to create an internal vortex in the corners. then have the air blow directly at the single entrance/exit to the outside world. then if u spray down arms/hands like you said that would eliminate ALL contams. a more suitable tupperware would perfect that system i think. instead of tapering, maybe one could cut out an entire side .. as is the design of most industrial laminar flow hoods. eh. what do they know :P what do you think?

well the way i set my cat us is this:
take one clear rubbermaid. on one side make a hole and place a strong enough fan sucking (or blowing in, i prefer sucking) on the outside of that fan is a regular old dust mast with polyfil stuffed in it and then placed over the fan. the mask is then taped securely to the sides. the bin is placed so that the opening is now facing you (bin on its side) the top half of the opening is covered with saran wrap and taped in place. the bottom half is left open for arms and putting things in and out. everything (including fan and mask) is sprayed with 70 ISO-OH. then let it sit for a bit and you are good to go.

Vent from what? There's a filter disc in the top of the fruiting chamber and a fish tank bubbler at the bottom with the tube running outside the chamber into a bottle for CO2. The vent for the flowhood is on the right hand side of the pic. Tornado eh ? Doesn't need to produce hard wind to create a whirlwind inside really. i dunno ... it would seem SOME outside air would be sucked in via arm holes. maybe i will use garbage bags, kinda crude tho. we'll see.
I'm having problems with my agar. B+ was the only strain of 4 that worked. Would different strains thrive on different types of agar ? I used PDA and australian, thai and equador didn't germinate ... in any of three media (pda, rice or rye grain) Anyone have good results with these strains on different agar ?
