yea, so I finally have thought about getting treated. I hear that medicated/behavior treatment is very helpfull.
Has anyone ever had social anxiety (anxiety) treatment?
what do they do with the treatment? What are some of the exercises and procedures?
thanks

Had social anxiety that came as soon as I had to use a wheelchair. It sucks. I received no treatment except having xanax on me when ever I found my-self in a crowded place. Kicked all that and got a retail job that forces these issues on a regular basis without medication. As I rebuilt my confidence my social anxiety disappeared. Good luck with your treatment.

Having Xanax around for a serious anxiety attack is a great help... Problem is, Xanax is so easy to abuse, and very ugly effects if you abuse it, and very addicting.
Also, I was on Lexapro for one month, it helped a TON! COnsider it, I never though *I* would be taking mental drugs... no, not me. But I swear it helped me. Just be safe with it, do it right, and PLEASE don't take SSRI's for a long period of time, they have bad mental WD effects too.
Just knowing I have a xany in my wallet is enough to keep me at bay sometimes.. But yes, pills are a crutch, sometimes I need a crutch, or like to take one. Go see the doctor, and be honest about how you feel.. He will help you

or you can except life and allow yourself to flow with the anxiety. Let it take over your life, feel it ripping your soul apart.

social anxiety, or introvert in denial?
one requires medication and a plan, the other just requires you to learn more about yourself and the world you live in.

I like my social anxiety, its a badge of intelligence.
The people who tend towards awareness usually develope some form of social anxiety. I stems form an ability to perceive the minutia in social settings.
Imho, I have learned over the years, the ones I want to respect me often care little about my anixety. The ones who are vapid and not worth much consideration are the ones who think I am weird cause I stay aloof and without ever present babble and conversation. When I do decide it is time to speak, it is often something extraordinaire, funny as hell and worth much notice. The intelligent ones, the ones with soul almost always gravitate my way. It makes going to work hard, I can feel the discomfort, the eyes looking at me. Assuming I am dumb or a drug addict because I don't socialize very well. Fuck them.
Still sometimes I find myself in moments of doubt, why can't I be normal and shit like that. I just inventory myself and slide on through the day.
I am not saying intellignet people cant be comfortable in social situations.
pyeace.

Your post reminds me of the Dr. Suess qoute

imo one of the best sayings around

So nhmi, welcome to the Shroomery. We've noticed you've bumped a lot of old threads all on the topic of social anxiety, depression, and anxiety. Most of the original posters would have moved on long ago or things would have changed.
It's obvious something is going on for you, and that's ok. Why don't you start your own thread and talk about whatever topic you wish...
