hi, i am a newbe of course with a question.i followed the magic mushroom growers guide as it read. i sterelized them before i went to bed in a lidded pot for bout an hour. i left the jars in the pot and put the pot in the oven to cool.later the next day after school i took them out and the bottoms of some of the jars had some kind of white stuff on the bottoms. i was thinking that some of the moisture got in but that wasnt the case. i decided to open one up and it was dry as can by. is this white stuff normal? did i leave them in the water for too long? any answers or ideas would be deeply appreciated.

if theres stuff on the outside of the jars, thats all the junk thats in the water you used. as the water turns to vapor, it leaves behind most of the chemicals and they collect on your jars. ive heard that putting a teaspoon of vinegar in the water in the pressure cooker will prevent that from happening (NOT in the jars, in the water that the jars are being boiled in lol)

were you sterlizing just the jars, or were you sterlizing the jars filled with substrate?
if youre sterlizing the jars filled with substrate, first, it shouldnt be opened. second it shouldnt be dry.
if youre sterlizing just the jars, they shouldnt be sealed, they should be slightly open so that the pressure inside the jar is equal to the pressure outside the jar.
can you detail waht steps you took in your sterilization method?

If you used BRF, I have the same thing. It looks like the flour at the bottom got hydrated more than the rest of the jar.
