Well ive read a lot about it, but the thing is hands on work is a lot different then just being able to regurgitate common knowledge shit. It took me a long while to finall nail the problem down, even then im not sure if it was a soil issue or a container issue. One of them fixed it, maybe both, either way things are looking a lot better

preflowers usually shows after fourth week of veg growth, its usually best to check above the fourth node after them , but judgind from the pics i say you will not expect to see them for some time yet. maybe in 2-3 weeks but its really difficult to say since your plants seems to have halted some in their growth..

Small update:
Ok some of my plants are nearing a foot tall! I pulled one of the plants and saw the roots showing signs of becoming rootbound so another transplant is looming ahead of me. I think i have the plants in 1/2 gallon pots, what size should i move up to now? Should i bite the bullet and move up to a 3 gallon pot, or should i transplant two a 2 gallon, veg until preflower or just before and then transplant to the 3?
Things are moving quick now! The plants seem to gain almost a 1/2 inch each day, im constantly removing books to lower the plants from the light. Im going to be constructing a grow room and get them under the HPS asap as the fluro seems to be providing uneven light as the plants bush out (some leaves are growing faster then others).
Thanks for all your help guys, they look so nice right now, i just cant wait until i start flowering them

Nice work Coda! Get them girls under HPS and they will love you for it. Be ready for them to shoot up in size too. I'd begin flowering at around 1ft high if you aren't using a 1000w. I flowered around 10 inches and my plants have just finished stretching at about 3-5 weeks (Depending on strain) and are now 26-28 inches. I'd be scared to see what these things would look like if I had veged another foot :0. I probably would have if I had a 1000w instead of a 400w.

So you force flowered your plants then? Did you not wait to see preflowers? That's the route im taking, i wanted to wait to ID the sex before i started to flower them. I have a lot of room to work with so size isnt an issue. I still havent figured out a way to circulate air properly, but i have a few ideas im gonna try out. That's the whole reason i havent stuck them under the HPS yet.

The plants were about 1.5 months old by the time I began flowering. I actually did see pre-flowers (female) about a week before I went 12/12 on a couple of the plants. THe others caught up pretty fast once flowering was initiated. How old are yours from seed right now Coda?
This is my second indoor run and I'm still learning a whole lot. My first harvest was pretty terrible considering my first grow ineptitude and travelling schedule. This harvest will bring in about 5-6x the amount of bud more than my last harvest and my next harvest will no doubt overshadow this one (yep, i fucked up by keeping the light too close to the plants).
Its for sure a learning process. By next year, with a couple more harvests, I should be able to pull 10oz or so from each harvest. right now i'm growing out a few strains in the same space but I'll be working with clones soon enough so I can achieve canopy uniformity.

your pots size should take considiration on how much space you actualy have for the plants... when you tansplant again i'd suggest going for the finel size pot. and depending on how much space you have betwine 8-12 liter would be optimal.
i'm glad to see you're finelly pleased about those babys but you've been saying you're gonna get the HPS going ASAP since you started this thread! you sound like you need a kick in the arss

Yah, ASAP = when my lazy ass gets around to designing this grow chamber. Just went to the hydro shop today and was talking with my guys (also scheduled a round of golf with them ) and they showed me a setup that hydro farm has. Its 4'x6'x7' portable greenhouse that has everything i need. It assemebles (and disassembles) in about 10 min and is completely light proof. It has intake and exhaust ports, a system for hanging your lights, and enough room for a boatload of plants. At 450 dollars tho im a bit hesistant, but right now its looking like the best choice for me. Im planning on moving in august so its portability and ease of setup is really appealing, plus if my partner moves in with me like he's planning we wont have to worry about being kept up all night with the light from the HPS.
Im really up against the wall with this though they really really need to be under the HPS and into bigger pots. I agree with you and so do my friends, they think the next transplant should be into the 3 gallon pots i have and that should be it. Hopefully this will be accomplished by the end of next week

Yah, i understand, but i also understand the value of checking out every option you have before deciding. It's difficult when you keep getting thrown curveballs every time you come up with an idea you think will work. I have patience, believe me man, i dont mind waiting if it means im going to be better off in the end.
I will get that light up just as soon as i find the setup that's most suitable for my location and lifestyle

very true, i don't mean to be peer pressuring you . lol.
I just told my grow partner that the girls in the closet are going to have to flower for around 75 days (the breeder told me this) and he doesn't seem to believe that it'll take that long. i'm going to have to stand at my closet door with a bat cause my partner is so damned impatient...especially cause he wants some smoke for 4/20 even though nothing will be ready.

yah, im thankful the person im growing with wants the same thing i do. I know we both will have the patience to harvest at just the right time. You might want to show him some proof on how waiting an extra week or two can make all the difference.
From what i gather the strain im growing has a an 80-90 day flowering period. Gonna be a long time, but these clones i have coming in should finish before they do so ill be smoking my own herb by the end of june hopefully

Just under a HPS alone would do, if you can light proof it. You can work on the rest as you go. You could build your own set up for almost half that price. If you want any tips on that ley me know. Shop brought systems are god for the first time though.

Sounds like a strong sativa you have there then. Worth the wait. But it doesn't hurt to take some of the lower smaller buds early on, it'll only make the top buds bigger in the end. Don't know if you've seen my grow thread here (more pics soon!), but i was suffering from overcrowding. So i trimmed aload of the lower stems, which didn't have much bud on them anyway. Now they're all happier and i am too. Got almost an oz dried from that little trimming session! Not bad! Plus imature bud give a purer THC buzz than mature weed. Less strong though.

80-90 day!!! My god i hope your patient man!! Mine are all 45-60 days, some staggerring in the harvest is good. Some plants will be ready sooner than others, and the top buds will ripen sooner than the lower ones. Havest the top half and then wait 1-2 weeks before harvesting the bottom buds, they will have almost doubled in size by then due to the extra light and root power available to them.

I seriously doubt that it will take that long, but according the person who gave us the seeds it has a long flowering period. I call bullshit, but im having trouble finding information on the strain.
