Multiple personalites

I always used to do voices for different nationalities and impersonations when i was young. i realized now that i may very well have a few personalities that are linked by voice tone (which changes my mental state accordingly). Like with some personalities I forget thigns easily, tired ofen, others I am bright, some talkative, and other bull-shit prone. So there is this one personality that is very draining on my energies and i just decided to cut it off.

how is that any different from having one dynamic personality?
it sounds like those are "moods" and not personalities..... but its all semantics I suppose.
Can you elaborate a bit on how the different voice tones work?
I have different ways of talking which correspond to different moods too.... a feminineish loving voice.... a gruffish throaty voice that's somewhat masculine and not as nice to people..... a monotone voice...
and an insecure voice.
but don't think the voices are separate from you somehow, they aren't. They could be very useful tools though.

Om Namah Shivaya, I tell you What!

It sounds as though you are in control as you can "cut off" your certain "personalities" as people commonly do to slip our undesirable personality habits. That to me indicates that you are not suffering from MPD. Look for certain signs if you think you have MPD. Do you commonly have people tell you that you say things or have events happen that you don't remember? It sounds to me that you are just a colorful person with strong personality traits.

Those people who think they are only one fixed personality are foolish. Some think they are two, they are slightly less foolish. But the realization that there are personal galleries inside us all must come eventually. Don't worry about it.
Oh, and if you read books, I'd recommend the Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse.
Take care.

Interesting you say that. I have, since I was a child, believed that there are PEOPLE living inside of me. They have their own distinct personalities and lives and I love them as though they are different people, real. They speak and think differently and they are inside of me. I sorta treasure them. Like children.
Now, do *I* have multiple personalities? NO. There's people inside of me but they don't take over unless *I* (the compliation of all of us, my ego) allow them to. They do speak to me, and "encourage" me in the direction of my actions, but we have an understanding. I figure it's just because of my imagination (and ego) that they are there. (like they are using the medium of imagination to communicate with me from their world.)
I read that true dissociative identity disorder (what (to my knowledge) they call MPD nowadays)is exceedingly rare. I have known people online at mental health support boards that DO have it, and it is not anything like my 'people' are to me, it is debilitating and frightening. A few times in my life my people have grown bigger then me, but I've always secretly enjoyed it even when I was out of control. It seems like people stricken with dissociative identity disorder have a VERY difficult time functioning in everyday life, all the time. My psych teacher told me she had a friend with DID, who would say/do things and then not remember them, causing huge problems with friends, family and work. Sometimes, it would seem to her family as though she were lying to them about stuff. Come to find out she had dissociative identity disorder.
If this happens to you, seek help...we all dissociate (anytime you turn on 'autopilot' while driving a car you dissociate) but dissociating to the point where you cannot remember WHOLE EVENTS you have said or done is cause for concern. Not that I know anything about this topic, just what people diagnosed with DID have told me.
Anyway, for some reason I wanted to comment!
