koh samui not particulary rhizomorphic?

i'm on my third strain and was wondering if anyone else has similar experiences. i've done two batches of KSSS (pf style, then wbs to 50/50 casing), and from inoc'ing to letting the casing colonize, never once has is displayed rhizomorphic growth patterns. a pf classic/amazon did while colonizing it's jars, and now i have a matazapec in the oven (literally). made a big casing from a 5 gallon aquarium i never used and a few quarts of wbs.
the matazapec in the quarts was really rhizo, and as the casing colonizes it's as 'ropey' as anything i've ever seen on the forums.
the pf classic/amazon was very rhizo in the jars, but not so much in the casing. i've been reading the arguments that rhizo is more or less a good thing as far as agressiveness is concerned, but anyway...
i'm not bitching about my KSSS, just wondering if it is more a strain feature and what i can do to improve rhizomorphic behaviours...
yes i'm buying 'the good book' by stamets (just can't learn enough), but that is then and this is now...
take care, outerwave (ha! used my full real name, then i had to think about that, not that anyone cares...)

I think it's more to do with the growing conditions than anything. Under certain circumstances, the myc will just stay tomentose. All the GT i've spawned (to WBS) this month has been resolutely non-rhizomorphic which I think is slowing things down a little bit.

myc cant do rhizo till they have a good amount of stored energy. i dunno if that would have anythign to do with anything. maybe they lost a lot of energy or the network was severely damaged in your transfer?

yea, i dunno... the transfer was prettyh much identical. quarts of wbs cooked and inoc'd at the same time, and cased using the same method maybe a few days apart. i read some of your thread on the same subject, and just look forward to reading up on the topic... interested if anyone has EVER seen decent rhizo on koh samui. i've noticed a trend of posts where tometose is all cultivators get...
off to find growlogs and pics of koh samui...
