Pretty Old Mushrooms

I recently got some of what Im about 99% sure are psilocybe cyanescens. I plan to eat an 8th of next weekend. My friend who picked them ate some fresh about 6 months ago, then dried them in an oven. Hes fine so i know they arent toxic, but they have been sitting in a storage locker for the last 6 months, and now I don't know if I should be worried that they have gone bad or something. I ate a small cap about 4 days ago just to test them and I have had a little potty trouble, but for all I know thats unrelated. Anyone know if dried mushrooms can go bad and make your stomach upset? If so how do I know if mine are still good or not. I dont wanna eat the rest and spend the next week sitting on the crapper, or worse. THanks.

Well, I dont have a pic or a digital camera unfortunately. They were in a bag sealed, some of them are still a nice beige-coffee color like they just got dried, but most are very shriveled and black. What im wondering is if they are f-ed up, whats the worst that could happen? will they seriously poison me or just screw with my stomach?
(Edited): I just thought of a way to get a picture posted, ill get one for my next post

break one and see if you got maggots/worms? are there any places that looks blotchy like it might have been contaminated while back. Barring any unforseen issues like you being alergic to them or something like that you will probably be ok to eat them, in my opinion. i'll still wait for your pic to make a final call.

As long as they're totally dry, bacteria can't survive on them. Bacteria is what causes food poisioning, so you'll be ok. RR

Alright thanks guys, thats good enough for me, on with the trip. Yeah they really will taste nasty, they smell pretty rank, im gonna make tea out of the smaller black ones with some honey to cover the taste, and just wash the rest down with OJ. Again thanks for all your input.

Heres a follow up question: considering the age of these mushrooms and the fact that im eating just under an 8th, what kind of a trip should i expect? I am aiming for a level 2-3 type thing. Ive only taken shrooms once before and it was very little, i only saw some mild visual distortion and felt stoned, definetly not enough.

Whoa now. Hold on. Cyans are more potent that cubes man. I would take half or less what you would normally take. Just don't want you to find your self in a 5 unprepared, thats got bad trip written all over it.

Yeah I know they are really potent. No worries, I have carefully planned out my environment (music and lighting and people around me). My girlfriend and my roomate (whos taken lots of mushrooms in the past) will both be trip-sitters. Also I figure the age of these ones has lost them some of their potency I wont take your warning lightly though, Ill only eat half of what i was going to, and then wait and see how i feel in an hour.

Well, in case anyone cares its been almost two weeks now and i had no stomach problems. The high kind of sucked though, they were so old and dry i reached only a level 1-2, these should definitely be eaten fresh.
