For all those that can't seem to find poo.

I just sat in my easy chair and called 3 local stables. I asked the if they sell or otherwise get rid of their horse poo. In all but one case, I was told that they have it hauled away, but I was asked how much I wanted. I advised that I would like 10-20 LBS and I was told to come get it. The one gentleman told me to take all I want, he pays to haul it away.

The third business was taken a little by surprise and asked me what I wanted it for. She said I am the first person to have ever called about poo. I advised them that it was my business (in a very polite way) but that I soak the poo for a few days and use the water for my roses, poppies and tomatoes. Upon hearing this, the lady becomes very interested and would like the recipie for my "tea". She advised that she would have her husband call me back when he gets in from the field.

Bottom line is...if you cannot find poo locally, you must not have tried. I still think I am going to place one order with TennStud to get a fell for him as a vendor, but I am also going out tomorrow to get me 50lbs of real horse poo.

On a side note....You can buy something called an immersion heater form a local retailer...(wallymart has one) It can sit in a cooler or a large pot. It has a digital thermometer and can perfectly maintain 160oF all day long. Some of the nicer ones have a pump to circulate water while cooking. Something to think about.

Hah, hopefully that'll give some people the confidence to make some calls of their own. I mean it's animal waste, most stables pay to have it taken away. Just like in your case here, most people will be thrilled to get it off their hands without paying.

Now about these immersion heaters.. how much are they, how many gallons can they maintain a heat of 160, and will they cause a spike in electricity bills?

I don't think that finding poo is most people's problem. Its having the space to let it sit out in the elements for months to leach it of ammonia.

Not sure the cost...I didn't look at the time. I had not planned on pasturizing at the time. I know that chefs will use them in bus tubs to poach fish and the like. I'm doing a little research and I will let you know what I find out.

If I am not able to get one, I will be using the styrafoam cooler tek for the pasturization.
