Hey, they sell rolls of the filter stuff that they use in furnaces(without the wire in it), I was just wonderings if I could possibly cut this material into squares then use it like a filter disk?

Nope.
Those are to keep dust out not contams.
Hit up micron magic he has cheap prices on his filters and they are good quality

I much rather use something that I already own in my house, than to go through the hassle of getting a money order, or sending cash in the mail.

Could I use the stuff instead of pollyfill, just to fill a drilled hole in the lid? I know they may not be actually used to keep out contams, but they must work better than pollyfill, in which it's purpose is to stuff pillows...
Also, I wouldn't need to use the verm barrier then, correct?

Give it a whirl I know little about furnace filters and maybe it would end up being the latest thing in filters.:)

Cut it into squares? You got square jars? Just joking.
Don't risk it! I'm not sure what kind of material you're
talking about but I've worked in heating and air for 12
years and I haven't seen any filter material yet that I
would risk my jars on. If the holes in it are big enough
for a furnace to get reasonable airflow, it's not going to
even slow contamination down. Three quarters of an
inch of verm cost almost nothing. There are several
ways to save a little money and I'm all for em but I don't
think this is one. Sorry. I hope you haven't already tried
it.
