Ok I'm ready to inoculate my compost , I read that you should use a 10:1 ratio, I read it at the link below, i can't find too much more info. Is ratio this advisable?
What spawn to substrate ratio should I use when inoculating bulk substrates?

ive gerally had less than or close to a 10:1 ratio, but solely for the fact that my container was smaller and it was either use it or loose it on the spawn

I always use a 5 to 1 ratio...
much faster and speedy colonization will lead to less contams.

Does it matter either way if you use a lot of substrate or a little just slower colonization times right

10 to 1 spawn rate will have a chance to contaminate more than a 5 to 1 spawn ratio.
but yes...you can use a 10 to 1 spawn ratio.
its just alot faster colonization and less chances of contamination setting in with the 5 to 1 ratio.

yah, like RK said, the more grain you have in your grow the more likely it will contaminate. For me i like to use 1 1/2 qt jars to 5 lbs of poo.

Alright to get more specific: I know it's a dumb question but... Do I go by weight or volume on the ratio.
I have 12 3 cup containers which holds a little more than 1lb of poo.
If by volume I need to ad 1/3 cup of grain to 3 cups of compost.right? AND If by weight I need to add 1.20 oz of grain to 1lb of compost. I hope my math is right.
(If you wondering why such small and so many containers, I figured if it gets contaminated I don't have to throw out a huge batch.)
