I've had gator in florida once. It was deep fried with a breading and served with your regular cocktail sauce(ketchup and horseraddish).
I thought it was good, but we were drunk as indians when we had it.

Get some zatarains fish fry batter and make up a batter and deep dry filleted gator tenders. the besy way imo. or you can try to make some type of gumbo soup with the stuff. Gator meat is a little to chewy for me to try that with.

Gator meat has to be cooked right, i know that much. Or else it will be the nastiest fucking thing you ever tasted. Maybe I can persuade some of the locals here to tell me how they cook it around these parts.
I'll try tonight when I go to the bar.

It really depends on what section of the gator you got(what's the meat look like?), but aside from the obvious fried style, you should try a stew or chili in a slow cooker.

Gator is a shitty cut of meat, people here is Florida don't eat gator, you never hear some ole' boy say he is headding off to go home cuz mama has some gator cooking, it is a tourist thing, aside from frying it, you can't really do much else with it, it is tough, & comes frozen & pulverized to try to tenderize it.

The cheeks are the best meat, but comercially only the tail is sold to my experience.
