wbs/grain spawn 25% rate to Coir substrate. (no casing cover) They are not going to be big guns.

damn, that's a hell of a pinset.
just goes to show why coir isn't as good as peat for casing! I had no idea there were THAT many nutes in coir.
Are those about to open up? The veils are really visible. Just wondering.

They are looking like some may about ready to start to open.
Remember, 25% is wbs/grain of the substrate.
I just did a tray of coir, for the hell of it. (disappointing, size wise)

Thank you for this post Agar, now I know if in my theoretical ideal grow the coir ended up getting colonized I could use it as a bulk substrate and fruit direct, you rock!
I am hoping to avoid overlay by utilizing the Pinning Strategy but at least I know if, IF, my avid loving and attentive nature was not enough to avoid colonization I could fruit direct for at least a large amount of smallies.

Ah, I skipped the 25% wbs part. Oops! Size might be small, but it still looks pretty good in terms of pinset, for not being cased. How thick is the substrate?
Wonder if one could make coir cakes? Or perhaps this has been done.
Nice job, agar!

About 2 inches deep in a plant seedling tray. Had some extra hydrated coir, and extra colonized grain jars. So, I thought, WTF, give it a go.

Should be the same potency for small fruits though. It's just another example of a long-time board member getting in the "been there, done that" for us n00bs.
Thanks Agar!
