Hey everyone
One of my friends wants to try mushrooms really bad, but we are worried about its possible effects on him, short term and long term. he has a social disorder, ADD, and also his father has huntingtons disease, which is a geneticall passed on disorder but does not show itself untill you are older, so theres no way of knowing if he has it yet. what are the risks of tripping with both huntingtons and ADD and should he do it? thanks

I would be concerned about his anxiety problem (the social disorder) and possibly the huntington's. The ADD is probably nothing to be concerned about, though.
Huntington's sounds as though its a physical problem and not really cognitive...if that is the case, then shrooms shouldn't interact with it.
Anxiety disorders are generally considered cognitive though. I think it would be a bad idea for someone with a disorder like this to throw themselves into a situation where they would be very likely to get scared. Generally, people with social disorders have a lot of pent up problems that they can't get out or don't deal with because they have a hard time opening up. I can see this being a huge conflict with the effects of mushrooms. Also, anxiety disorders generally occur from irrational thinking patterns...which would also be a conflict.
Personally, I would say no, he should not take the shrooms. However, I'm not a psychologist and I do not know the guy. Maybe he deals with his problems quite well and is stable enough to handle the shrooms.

IMO It depends what kind of social problem he has... tell him to make a smart decision

ditt0...I think your friend should make that desicion himself...if he wants to...then let him...if it turns out not as what you expected then the only one to blame is him...

Six? It seems like a lifetime, or at least a main era - -the kind of peak that never comes again. San Francisco in the middle sixties was a very special time and place to be a part of. Maybe it meant something. Maybe not, in the long run, but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Whatever it meant." Hunter S. Thompson.

as far as this 'social disorder' goes, i think if he is in the right environment it would be fine. like just a couple good friends relaxing, out of the public eye. but if he's going to be doing them around people he doesn't know, things have the possibility of getting ugly.
