Can one good festival change the world?

countless times i have heard people that say one good concert, one fgood rock show, one good festival, can change the world.
I take to to mean that one amazing expierence can change the way a person chooses to live their lives, and how they relate to the world. I think that they can. but what do you think?

I don't believe you can manufacture something as meaningful as an epiphany.
Can it be a great time? Sure, but its not going to lead to any absolute truths.

I think that every experience changes the way you view the world and they way you interact within it, a festival is just one of those experiences, but yeah I think its possible.

If a festival can change someone's life, damn right it can change the world. Will it? Probably not.
But if you don't think one person can change the world you're sadly mistaken!

I would have to say that most of it is not the festival or concert itself, but providing a envoirnment where people can have that expiereince

Every large festival changes the world. In some way.It may not be immediately evident, but its happening.100s to thousands of people have life changing experiences at festivals, concerts and gatherings.
Even the small ones have an impact on the world and the universal consciousness.
As long as 1 person gets something positive out of it,then the world is being changed.

Just look at Woodstock and ask if that changed the world one bit. I'm sure it's intentions were to try and change something, but ended up in flames and chaos...

Maybe not, in the long run, but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and the world. Now that I think about it......IT IS!
I guess there is nothing else that will make others want to make a difference, but add flames/chaos...then someone decides to take it seriously.

Yeah, you ever been to one?
Just look at the trash piles at bonnaroo. Think of all the crappy oil burning VW's driving there. Definitly some earth changing pollution going on at fests.

Unfortunately, there is going to be piles of trash at any place where there are large groups of people. They do recycle, though. Clean vibes does a great job. Festivals are great ways for people to come together in harmony with music and each other, though and yes, I think that they constantly cause change. Some good and some bad.

Yeah, that is true. Last year, we took home ALOT of stuff that was just discarded. Like 3 grills, a canopy tent, 4 tarps, and a plethora of various gear that people just left for trash. People suck. That's all there is to it. They have no consciousness of their actions. They are just around to use and abuse without regard of the consequences and that is what puts a damper on the whole scene.

man the best part of bonnaroo last year was the garbage picking and eating of left behind food we found laying around, while driving drunk through the campsites!
we got tons of beer, food, and an ez-up in good condition.
Lots of people were doing it, i think that they should advertise it as an attracation
and yes the optimists are winning ! and no i did not just finish watching school of rock, but it is where i got the wording for my pre-existing concept of one good show can change the world

Just out of curiosity , how old are you ?
I'm not sure , but I believe it was Woodstock 2 that ended in flames and chaos . I don't believe the original did . And I believe it did change the world . Just look at how many people still talk about it and debate it almost 40 years later . Isn't that changing the world ?
But when you think about it , everything changes the world in some way . No matter how small .
