Still depressed?

Having just seen 20-30 threads all dealing with heavy-weight mental and emotional problems may I suggest that some of you at least avail yourselves of some of the best of complimentary medicine such as flower remedies and herbal teas? Flower remedies (when correctly potentised) work on the emotional causes of illness -consult your local practitioner or reputable retailer- and teas such as "St.John's Wort" help with depression. However do not take St.John's Wort if you are on anti-depressants which work on the Seratonin receptors in the brain as the combination can be dangerous (too much Seratonin may "burn out" these receptors by overdosing them I believe), you must be clean for at lease three weeks/a month before using St.John's -check this with your doctor-. Seratonin is also produced by physical excercise and exposure to sunlight so go play!!
Moderator edit: Useful advice.. no need for the uppity subject line. (Especially considering you go on to recommend something OTHER than therapy in the body of the post.) Edited subject to accurately reflect post contents.

Post deleted by Silverwolf<p>Reason for deletion: I guess our moderator is right, although I see the use of herbal teas as part of a therapeutic protocol and Vibrational Medicine ("In Theory and Practice") is really therapy in in itself when practiced by a skilled physician.

No, you're welcome to leave it right there in that response. I just didn't think "Holy crap! You guys need therapy!" should be plastered across the main page as a subject line.
Also, if "play is therapy" to you, then maybe you shouldn't have used the word therapy in the first place, as it is commonly understood to be the act of seeking out counsel from a qualified therapist.
No harm done... I just changed the subject line. Get over it.

Out of curiosity, how does drinking flower teas and herbs work on the "emotional causes of mental illness" any more than prescription medications?

Sigh! Despite the linguistic nicities not viewing adult play as a form of "therapy" seems kinda weird to me. Part of my real deep annoyance with the Frisbee community here (I went to University with Charlie Langdon-Mead -"ea" or "ee" I don't think I've ever known-, the guy that introduced Ultimate to Britain -and Europe ?-) -me Equipment Officer Essex "Victims" and Southampton University "Skunks" (guest player)- is the way it has stopped being fun! Nobody plays anymore. Disc as a therapeutic excerise for back injury sufferers is mostly ignored. We are in dangerous territory when people have forgotten how to play together.

Long story Bud (firstly I might refer you to the work of Dr.Masaru Emoto -Google- but having to trawl through the net and then read a scientific piece on the molecular structure of water, without knowing how I am going to apply it, could just put you off for good.). Most people don't teach theory Bud, I do, and like that's "wonga" nowadays, know what I mean?

If you ever find some credible evidence, I'd be interested to read it.

Then read Masaru Emoto's work first.
Further to the anti-depressant question proper nutrition (vitamin C and B12* are the standbys) is vital of-course. Try cutting down on refined sugars (replace sugar in you diet with honey in teas), caffeine (I get much of mine from guarana -but the English and tea, man!-) and low cocoa content chocolate (The Aztecs,Incas and Mayans -?- used cocoa as an anti-depressant, but you want around a 70% cocoa content in your "chocolate" -of whatever description- if you are going to use it as an anti-depressant and avoid refined sugar poisoning.). "Clean" green veg -have some fun go to www.beyondorganic.com and download some of the archive, also check out my thread "What your Mother didn't (and probably couldn't) tell you about salt (or "The Conspiracy")" on this forum-, should make up at least some of your diet. Here's a good one: two teaspoons good cocoa powder, one shot instant coffee ("Fairtrade" is best !)-for real purists boil up your ground coffee with the coca, see following-, one pan of properly prepared strong coca tea, honey, small teaspoon ground cinnamon, milk and cream (vegans use soya milk and cream, it can work but in my experience they are best used when as fresh as possible). Whilst boiling the coca mix the cocoa, coffee, honey and cinnamon with the milk then add the coca, stir, swirl on the cream (add a little chocolate and cinnamon on top) and imbibe! Also try cold pressed (or "cool" pressed at worst) "Evening Primrose" oil (break open any capsules, if you get it in that form, and just knock the oil back), it is great for stress and hormonal problems in both sexes and the Amerinds revered it as such. Camomile too is a useful standby.
*Interestingly the Aloe Vera (Barbadensis) is apparently one of the only plants to contain B12 (non-meat eaters can also source their B12 from yeast extract -low-salt is best-).
