Easiest substrate

I am attempting my first grow and was wondering what is the easiest(and most reliable) substrate to use. Just trying to keep things as simple as possible for the first time. Right now I am aiming towards the myceleum and BRF substrate mix. Any suggestions?

Learn how to do WBS in quart jars, then spawn that to horse manure. Biggest gains for your learning efforts.

Mycelium is not a substrate. If mushrooms were plants, it'd almost be the roots of the mushrooms, in that the network of mycelium acts as a transporter for nutrients to primordia and mushroom fruitbodies. In order for fruit to develop, you must allow the substrate to be fully colonized by the mycelium. After full colonization of a substrate, knotting occurs which turns into pins, which grow into mature mushrooms.

I look at the mushrooms as more of a reproductive organ for the mycelium, the mycelium is more like the body and brain works, a mushrooms just a dong impregnating the world with its seeds...

I have heard of mycelium networks that were miles long! They'll take over the world soon!

Paul Stamets has a quote he loves to use that the world's largest organism is a mycel. network. Many, many, many square miles!

The the worlds biggest fungi is a network of mycelium, its located in acres and acres of land in the NW if I recall correctly.

Heh
"The discovery of the world's largest fungus - up to 8,500 years old and carperting nearly 10 square kilometres of forest floor - has raised questions about what constitutes an individual organism.
A study of a tree-killing fungus in rugged northeast Oregon, USA, found that a single individual covered an area equivalent to about 1,600 football fields"

wbs/grains are way easier and better than any thing brf can do. Some people say that pf will teach you the basics bla bla. I say if your seirous about this sport then you need to dive in head first and teach your self. Magash's rye tek is simple and easy. Scats is good but i think that with the type of rye that i have i NEED to rince them after i simmer. there are some wbs teks that you just add a cup of wbs and the nessisary amount of water and pc and let cool and knock up. cant get much easier than that. WBS/grains are about 10-15$/55 lbs where as you cant even 25lbs of brf for 15$
