this place i found today sells a mushroom compost, its got horse manure, straw, chicken manure and sawdust. I was thinking about getting a load, but wanted to inquire about the chicken manure and sawdust. i think i heard chicken manure is too hot. i guess ill just get a 50lb bag and try it out first

Hmm... sounds like you might have trouble with that sawdust, unless you are growing something like oyster mushrooms or other woodlovers, unless all the cellulose has been decomposed.
Is there a nutritional content analysis on the bag?

I too live near a few mush farms and I started to check into it.
But I then found that the compost that they sell is used, not good for mushes but great for your garden.
I would first find out if it is used.

Try it out man. I got some composed of straw, horse, chicken, gypsum. Working great for the Brazilian and BPK cubes, they're just eating it up! The Creepers are not enjoying it that much though...*shrugs* oh, and.... PLUG (see sig)

It is spent mushroom substrate. As in used & not good to be used again. Like toilet paper. Once it's used, I would not want to use it - again.
