Heyall, another question for you guys

I heard a long time ago that woodash is good to mix with soil for growing things as it is high in nitrogen, is this true would it be good to use it in general mycology?

Ash is high in potassium not nitrogen. Helps flowers bloom.

I mix oak bark ash in with my casing medium. Reduces the need for a calcium buffer, and provides micronutrients and whatnot.

You want your casing layer to be non-nutritive. Adding nutrients defeats the purpose of a casing layer.

This depends...

wood ash isn't high in nitrogen.
It does have some potassium in it, but I am not convinced that this is problematic. I haven't noticed excessive overlay with it! Most of the nutrients that actually feed fungi should be destroyed by the fire. Also, I use very little in the mix.

Does anybody else that has had experience with using ash (bark ash) in casing have any input?
