Just put them in a huge pot and anything that floats use a hand strainer to remove them. Its got a hand and a scooper but the scooper is a fine screen. But yeah, it probably won't matter but most people say to remove the floating shit so I do.

I think that the whole sunflower seeds are worse than sunflower chips, as the seed hulls are very thick and oily and can resist pressure sterilizing.
Nevertheless, I've never had problems with my wbs, even with the sunflower seeds in it.
I PC quart jars of soaked wbs at 15-16.5 psi for 70-80 minutes, so that's probably why I don't have contam issues. I'm a little over 1000 feet above sea level, I believe.

`you should be fine. lots of people soak for 24 hours anyway, and the hot water is just a substitute for a simmer

Put the pot in the fridge. Once PC arrives, remove pot, rinse, drain & jar up wbs. Also, do a quick test run, on the PC, before an actual one.

DON'T SIMMER 14 hours, you will end up with mush/paste/bursted wbs.
I don't simmer - at all.

If you have already soaked them, a CONSIDERABLE time. I would throw the pot in the fridge. To slow it down.
If they have only soaked 12 or 18 hours. No harm done, leaving them to soak, until tomorrow.
So long as the stove is not turned on.

Check some in the morning.
Grab a few grains out. Pinch with fingernails.
If they are solid, but you can mash/cut one with a fingernail, its GOOD.
If it mash's, like soft mashed potato's, it's TO WET.
