Max time for soaking grain jars?
    #5344716 - 02/27/06 10:03 AM (18 years, 1 month ago)

Due to extenuating circumstances i've had to leave pint jars filled with rye soaking in water for a few days now. is this too long or is the grain in the jars still usable for inocculation?

Does it smell? I usually toss them if they get funky, but I've heard people say they just rinse them and use them anyway.

i wouldnt use any grains that have been soaking longer then 24 hrs.
1.) it's sitting in endospore soup

2.) It;s OVER hydrated, a lot of those grains may turn into mush.
