Using foil INSIDE of Fruiting containers.
    #5344966 - 02/27/06 11:38 AM (17 years, 10 months ago)

I have tried Agar's suggestion of lining the inside of my cases with aluminum foil to prevent side pinning, but when my cases shrink they do not pull the foil in with it. Any suggestions?

How exacly are you using the foil? Are you wrapping it around the edges or something? I have never had a problem with the foil being pulled in with the myc?

Do you have any pictures?

it happens, sometimes the substrate shrinks before it has a chance to latch onto the alum foil. Simply shake some dry verm into the empty spaces. This will create a climate that is unsuitable for primordia and pin formation.

gopenguins - here is a pic I took today of my latest 1st flush.

Coda - Yea that is what I do now, but it's difficult to get the Verm in there in time. As soon as I see the substrate shrinking it already has pins forming so I just let them grow so they don't stunt and rot.

You can always pick off those pins and then fill it in.

It's not that big of a deal, side pinning isn't a bad thing as much of an annoyance.

I'd say the tallest was onyl about 5"

My fist and second grow had much taller fruits, but they weren't as fat.

Walmart.

BTW tiny_rabid_birds, I think my fruits are so fat because I increased my substrate depth a full 1 1/2" deeper.

The first grow was only about 1 1/2" deep now it's more like 3"

I plan on spawning to coir next and increasing the depth to at least 4"
