If I ever build a clandestine lab, the pathway leading to it...

will be designed by this company: http://www.hiddenpassageway.com/
This is an actual company that makes parts for hidden passageways in homes. They even have the classic triggering mechanisms like the book you pull on, or the candlestick you twist, to open the door.
They also have fingerprint scanning locks, and all sorts of awesome security features. To think of the implications. Imagine a large laboratory that exists in a room that people aren't even aware of, because the entrance is not only perfectly concealed, but it's also triggered by a fingerprint scanner that's hidden behind a pictureframe hanging on the wall.
I'm totally geeking out about this

i've thought about building a secret area into a home. having it done by a company like this is really the wrong way to go about it though. it's a novelty thing for them. it's not made for serious security. it's also really expensive.
you obviously don't want anyone to know about your secret passageway, which is why paying a company, which is going to leave a paper trail and probably require you to get a building permit, is not the way to go.
it's gotta be hidden so well that only ground penetrating radar can find it. having an eye scanner on the wall behind a picture isn't good enough.
that's just how i'd approach it if i was really considering some kind of hidden bunker/laboratory.

I looked for a little bit about it but... there was a story a few years ago about how a guy hired a contractor to build him a "secret room" for his grow operation. He told the contractor that he was growing weed.
The contractor sadly, didn't get paid. So he told the cops about this "secret room" that he just built for a suspected weed grower.
Put two and two together.
Use a little imagination and you can come up with some pretty neat private rooms without hiring anyone.

Or you could hire someone, not tell them what it was for, and not neglect to pay them when they know where you live.
Not as safe as doing it yourself, but not ass-backwards-retarded like that story.

You don't have to have them install it. Hell, it's much cheaper to buy the components and do it yourself. That way the only "paper trail" is having bought security features for your home.
And the day when buying those valid and legal security components becomes considered a validly suspicious activity is the day when I start a coup de'tat.

The bookcase would be easy to install, it would just replace an existing door. You could hide an entire growroom with ease.
Like someone said, you can just buy a kit. Don't even put the real addy where it will be installed on the invoice. Order anonymously like you would seeds.
Did you see the escape slide where you can lift up a cushion and dive into your chair and end up in the basement? I bet that one guy in Miami that almost got busted for a pot grow and escaped had one of those. Remember him?
