Slow colonization in LC? And other questions.

I have about 5 1/2 pints jars with WBS in them that are about 1/4 colonized after 8 days (Cambodians). But I also have an LC that I made with some Karo brand knock off, its been about 6 days since I inoculated it and there are only 2 very small (smaller than an eraser on a pencil) clumps of white fluffy stuff. Shouldnt there be more than that? Or is it going to turn out fine?
Also my 1/4 colonized jars seem to look different than a lot of posts I see around here. The ones I see the colonized part is very white and thick, but mine are white, but not thick, almost hairy. IS this okay though?
I have some more spore solution (1.5 cc's only) to make another LC with if mine is going to be a failure.
I also have a quart jar that just started colonizing today, the WBS in my quart jar is WAY more hydrated then in my 1/2 pinters, is this a big problem? I also have a hole in my quart jar stuffed with polyfil for air exchange, while my 1/2 pinters have only tin foil over them.
I think a part of it is because I have some temperature fluctuations in my incubation chamber, since I was to poor to make a TiT (Tub in Tub right?) I just put it by the heater vent to raise the temps. My temps are usualy 25-28c but they have gone as high as 31c and as low as 23c. Is this a big deal?
One last thing, I have a blanket covering my chamber but today I noticed that around 9:00 am or so the sunlight goes through the blinds and shines right on it, possibly giving it some light through the blanket, should I move it?

Make sure you shake the LC vigorously daily to aerate the LC and break up the myc clumps.
Hairy (rhyzomorphic) mycelium is GOOD! That means the myc is strong and aggressive.
As long as you don't have standing water in your quart WBS jar, you should be OK.
These are all the answers I have to offer up to you. READ!

Nice, good to know that things are doing well, thanks for your reply. I shook the LC today, we'll see what happens after a few days I guess.
I went out today and collected some nice weathered horse poo, crumbled it up and put it in a ziplock bag. When is the best time to pasturize this? Right away or right before spawning? I also found out I have a bag of cow manure and compost mix that has been sitting around for who knows how long, so I looked at it today and it looks just like really dark soil. Is this how it should look (its not just soil someone put in the bag is it?)? I was thinking of adding it to my poo and straw.
How thick should my poo layer be? About 3 inches right? Then I let it colonize, then put some casing over it, then fruit, right?
So many questions in one post. Sorry guys, first time grower and I just like to do things right the first time.
