not getting that many pins
    #5342123 - 02/26/06 06:06 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

and dont know why.. i think its either humidity (always around 90-95) or my casing layer is too thick (i can see shrooms start from way below the top layer) but that could also mean there isnt enough moisture on top...???

Have you read Hyphae?s pinning strategy http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/3290155/an/0/page/0
High humdity (about 95% RH) is great for pin formation.

Use a 3/8" to 1/2" thick casing layer.

What mix are you using for a casing mix?

Strait verm makes a poor casing mix.

My last mix was Peat(with oystershells)/verm with some coir thrown in. The problem is that Peat must be pH adjusted.

A mix of coir and verm needs no Ph adjustment.
