Front USB ports on built computer
    #5340979 - 02/26/06 12:58 PM (17 years, 10 months ago)

I built this computer a few weeks ago and it works like a charm. The only problem I have is that the front USB ports in the case don't seem to go anywhere. I have to turn my case sideways to connect stuff to the back so I can still have it on my desk. Are there connecters from the front to the mobo or am I just not going to be able to use these damn USB ports? Thanks in advance.

They probably connected them to the motherboard wrong. Look for a manual for your mobo on the manufacturer's webpage (if you don't already have a print one that is) and look for the "map" diagram that says which connectors on the board are which. Then look at the cables leading from the front of the case. There will be one for the PC speaker, power button, etc. One (or maybe two) of them will say USB, and you just plug those into the right spot according to the diagram.

there should be a pinout on the mobo that has 4 or 5 pins, look in the manual for it, you have to connect the usb plug to this

peace
