Side Growth, but stopped... overlay? HELP!?!

As a valentine's gift from my boyfriend, I got two little tubs of horseshit, mycelium, etc etc. It's cased on top (not sure with what). Anyway, these two little tubs (clear plastic) looked great a couple of weeks ago... you could see lots of strandy growth on the sides. At the time, he had them covered in foil.
When I got them, they were almost all white on top. I think I might have overlay, but I also read on this site that that's not a problem because they're cubensis. Is this true? Should I scratch? There is some fuzz on top, not in knots (rizo growth?).
He gave them to me with a terrarium, with perlite (I think) on the bottom. I've only had them a week. I got a huge mushroom off of one, and the other has grown a big one and is now growing three smaller ones... from the side of the tub, though, not the top.
As soon as I got them, we noticed there were already lots of pins, fuzzy growth, and even MUSHROOMS (tiny ones) growing. These were all growing BENEATH the casing layer. We could see them through the side of the plastic tubs. Is this bad? I got the aformentioned few mushrooms that pushed up the side. Others were growing straight down to the bottom of the tub and just seem to have stopped/died.
He put them out to fruit for me (water in the bottom, perlite on top, and the cover). I'm not getting much condensation on the terrarium. Does this mean it's not humid enough?
Any advice would be much appreciated. Boyfriend's not sure. He's having success at home, but with cakes, not casing.
Wish I had a camera to attach a pic, but I don't.

Sorry, it's me again.
So, basically, this thing started fruiting before we put it out to fruit, but it was fruiting under the casing layer.
Is there any chance I'll get more mushrooms than those few that already grew? Should I spray/mist it? All the mushrooms have had fuzz at the bottom of the stems, so I think that means there's enough humidity, but I've seen little moisture on the sides and top of the plastic cover. Shouldn't the sides and top be full of droplets?
Please let me know if you have any advice/suggestions!
Thanks!

Just make sure your casings surface glistens a couple times a day by misting it. The fuzz at the base does mean plenty of humidity so you should be good to go. Your second flush won't appear until a week or so after you've harvested all you first flushes shrooms. GL

I think the problem was that I had them too close to the radiator. I moved them and I'm seeing more "fuzz" and what I think are pins, too, but they're still coming from the side and I'm still concerned that the top is overlay.

Cool. I'll mist a bit and sit and be patient. Thanks for the help.
