AFOAF has been extremely sucsessful in the 10 casings that she has done in her life. This Treasure Coast, rye berrires, spawned to poo is giving her a run for her money. Some charactertistics:
5 inch sub.....verm coir casing layer
humidity 80 - 85.....temps perfect at 73 degrees.....good FAE
Lots of pins......
Why are the fruits so fucking small? It looks like half of the pins are going to abort.
What gives?????

ATWAR said about Treasure Coast: Very dense pinset IMO, they just keep coming and coming. Not the biggest fruits, but plenty in number.
The large pinset also can lead to high abort counts, somtimes causing problems when you need to remove them.
Seems to be the general consensus on the strain. Some just grow smaller, but more of them.

Magnificent pin sets, covering a casing layer thick as sardines in a can. Often, lead to small fruits & many aborts.
Reason being.
Look at a substrate like a breasts on a mammal. (which feeds it's babies)
When you have a thousand babies. All sucking nutrients from one breast.
None get optimal moisture & nutrition.
Some get more & get bigger.
Some get less & are smaller.
Some get pushed off the breast & abort.
That is the reason, 2nd & third flushes, produce bigger shrooms. Simply because there are less pins. And, each gets more moisture/nutrients from the substrate.

Agar hit the nail on the head. Lots of pins make for small fruits. Bear in mind however, not all of those small pins that don't grow are aborts. It's very common to have the pins for first and second flush to form at the same time. If the pins still look normal and don't turn black, don't pick them with the mature mushrooms. They'll begin to grow after you pick the first flush. RR
