My next substrate experiment is going to be a combo of wheat straw, manure, and quinoa. If anyone has any suggestions on ratio or preparation I would like the input.

Why do you criticize me for experimenting. Why dont you explain yourself instead of just saying I dont think so and giving me a link to a bunch of nothing. You probably would have said I dont think so when they used Rattle Snake Venom to make a hybrid Codyceps sinensis. Anything is possible why not try. Failure is the price you pay to learn a new lesson.

The quinoa will make the sub more contam prone. If you're going to pasteurize, you might want to soak the quinoa, and/or sterilize it first. That still wouldn't be a gaurantee.
I've tried pasturizing a mix similar to yours, and it resulted in contamination. Even using grain flour, which would pasteurize properly, greatly elevates the risk.

Go for it bud.
Try this:
300 ml manure/straw mix(1 c. 4 T)
100 ml quinoa (6.7 T.)
100 ml verm (6.7 T.)
That ought to get you a quart jar. It'll be shakeable too.
I used this formula on my Pan. cyan jar. It would have kicked ass if I didn't kill it by shaking it. =[

Very possible.
Try it out by sterilizing in big autoclave bags for 3 hours and innoculating with LC. I read a tek just the other day about mixing grains/poo this way, might wanna search for it. I remember it saying not to soak/simmer the grain prior to PC'ing.

Oop, I wasn't sure if he was colonizing in a sterile environment. Should work fine in jars.

I actually got a very nice setup with 36 inch flow hood, working with spawn bags and impulse sealer. I also checked that link again and found nothing about Quinoa.

Well, looks like you're set. I'm using a quinoa mix in Mex-A jars, and the mycelium seems to like it pretty good. As far as that goes, I'd think most grains would have way more nutes than a bulk sub. If you can keep it sterile, go for it. I reciently started a few jars that have no less than 10 different types of grain. Growth is fast to say the least.
