I despise the following meat-flavored "food products":

- Hot Dogs - 40% rat
- Bologne - Gross
- Vienna Sausages - Gross
- "Potted Meat Food Product" - The name says it all, they have to remind you that it's food. This is basically just a paste of vienna sausage pressed into a pop-top can. It is mysteriously immune to fungal growth.
- Salsbury Steak - tastes good, but contains more rat than hot dogs
- Most other "processed" meats
The reason, you ask? Well, I'll put it this way: Do you ever notice how all processed meat looks very homogenous, generic, and nondescript? To me, this seems like an intentional thing. The producer of these meats wants it to be completely nondescript so that you can never tell what exactly is in the damn meat. They could be pulverizing gristle, bonemeal, rat meat, knox gelatin, or other adulterants and adding them to the meat mixture to make it cheaper. All that's needed is a nondescript "artificial flavoring" to mask the presence of other quasi-meats.
My long standing opinion of hot dogs is that meat processors take all of the cuts of the animal not fit for individual sale, grind them up, and put them into hot dogs in order to make a profit off of meats that are normally below human taste standards.
Besides, the stuff is all just so damn unhealthy... it's the food of the devil.
This also applies to any meat served by mcdonalds. Does anybody even remember how long ago it was that mcdonald's meat stopped tasting like actual meat? Their beef tastes nothing like beef. I've had breads that tasted more like beef than a McDonald's hamburger.
Fuck you, evil meat barons!

I worked on a research project for a big starch company. Some of those processed meats are essentially liquified meat parts mixed with a bunch of water and then starch to solidify. That's why they are "homogeneous" and are 50%+ water with unnatural flavors added since starch tastes like nothing. Since working there, I won't touch a large portion of the processed foods that are for sale.

Like most other internal organs, the brain can serve as nourishment. For example, in the Southern United States canned pork brain in gravy can be purchased for consumption as food. The form of brain is often fried with scrambled eggs to produce the famous "Eggs n' Brains".[19]
The brain of animals also features in French cuisine such as in the dish [t?te de veau], or head of calf. Although it might consist only of the outer meat of the skull and jaw, the full meal includes the brain, tongue, and glands, with the latter form being the favorite food of French President Jacques Chirac.[20]
Similar delicacies from around the world include Mexican tacos de sesos made with cattle brain as well as squirrel brain in the US South.[21] The Anyang tribe of Cameroon practiced a tradition in which a new tribal chief would consume the brain of a hunted gorilla while another senior member of the tribe would eat the heart.[22]
Consuming the brain and other nerve tissue of animals is not without its risks. The first problem is that the brain is made up of 60% fat due to the myelin (which by itself is 70% fat) insulating the axons of neurons and glia.[23] As an example, a 0.14 kg can of "pork brains in milk gravy", a single serving, contains 3500 milligrams of cholesterol, 1170% of our recommended daily intake.[24] Brain consumption can also result in contracting fatal transmissible spongiform encephalopathies such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and other prion diseases in humans and mad cow disease in cattle.[25]
Another prion disease called kuru has been traced to a mourning ritual among the Fore people of Papua New Guinea in which those close to the dead would eat their brain to create a sense of immortality.[26] Some archaeological evidence suggests that the mourning rituals of European Neanderthals also involved the consumption of the brain.[27]
The practice of eating another human's brain has been depicted by Hollywood in the film Hannibal and countless zombie movies.
It is not only humans who eat the brains of other animals. The two species of chimpanzee, though generally vegetarian, are known to eat the brains of monkeys to obtain fat in their diet.[28]
From Wikipedia, pretty intresting

I was being sarcastic
But the point is that if they slipped in some rat meat you'd never know the difference.

That definitely falls in line with part of my suspicions. I knew for certain that they DID use adulterants to cheapen the cost of the processed meats. Starch is oh so much cheaper than meat (since meat must be raised and slaughtered).
On the other hand, starch is technically nutritious, since (as far as your body is concerned) it is pure energy. Starch = calories.
