Worries about slow growth
    #5335036 - 02/24/06 02:07 PM (17 years, 11 months ago)

Here is my casing after 1 week of incubation, it has just begun colonizing the compost now, but slowly

Comments, suggestions?

Thier is a white powdery substance that was on the phase II compost when I got it, and im unsure what it does.

Just give it some time. Generally the myc needs a few days to recoup its strength after having been broken up and mixed around. Colonization will probably speed up.

That looks too wet to me. You want it moist, but airy.

Thats how it is at lower temperatures, but once i started to incubate it it has been humidifying like crazy, and saturating the top layer.

What would be more important, Co2 levels or the moisture content, I tend to keep a higher co2 content with a cover over the colonizing substrate but in turn that saturates the top layer.
