Rinse and dry... you can also use a small amount of h2o2 in combination with water in your fc as a safeguard to contmination

I drentched mine in h2o2 for a day and then let it dry. no oven. like the above post said add 10% h2o2 to the terrarium for a safe guard.

youll be fine by just letting it sit out... but if youre in a hurry you can just rinse and strain all the water out. Use h2o2 in fc. You shoudnt face contamination problems from the perlite since the cakes shouldnt be sitting directly on it anyway

Perlite can be a breeding ground for anerobic bacteria, it should always be cleaned every so often. I myself do a bleach/water dunk then rinse this keeps it extremely clean. Don't get sloppy guys.

You can also bake perlite after rinsing with a 10% bleach solution. It's not going to break down with heat. 350o for about an hour should do it. I used this method in a previous hobby and had no trouble.
I sometimes had a moss growing on it. Between the bleach and the oven, it was gone.
