So, I'm curious as to what to tell the guy at home depot that I need sodium chloride for. Are there any other uses that I Can pass off as legitimate? Because I will most likely have to ask someone there what aisle it is on.

Yea, I would imagine that the only way they would become suspicious (though I highly, highly doubt that anyone working at Home Depot would care at all regardless) is if you asked for 'sodium chloride' rather than simply 'salt.'
What do you need so much salt for that you're going to home depot to buy it in bulk?

That makes more sense!
Calcium Chloride can be used when making cement, so just say something about repaving your driveway or something.
Or just tell them that you're buying it for your dad or something...who cares? The home depot employees will most likely just point you to the aisle anyway, in which case your brief conversation should be finished at "where can I find calcium carbonate?" "Aisle six". Done.

oooh. i was gonna say what the hell?!? goto a feed store, i don't know if home depot would have it of not but it is used for chickens. chickens don't have enough calcium in their diet so you add crushed oyster shells to their food and it helps them make strong eggs.
good luck!

If you ask for a product, like Room4Shroom said they will just show you where it is. It's none of their business what your using it for, so don't tell them. Just say it's for a project your doing and if they ask more about it, your not allowed to disclose any of the details.
It's not like they can do anything about you buying Calcium Chloride. The police are not going to come to your house on a tip from an employee at home depot that you purchased calcium chloride and were standoffish.
If you REALLY want a legitimate excuse it's a common chemical used in pool and spa water to raise the calcium level, and pools use LARGE amounts at a time.

Calcium Chloride isn't very suss, but I like to have stories for every chemical I might buy... mostly for shits and giggles.
Ya oughta use calcium chloride in making homemade ice cream. It's hella cheaper than table salt, especially the iodized stuff with a flow agent (silica or whatever) added. That sounds like a pretty legit reason to have CaCl in a warm climate!

People always think that when a question is asked of you, you must answer. I SAY, it's none of anybody's business what the hell I'm buying anything for. "What are you going to be using this CaCl for, sir?" "That's not that important, if you could tell me where to find it I'll be off." If it's a FREE country, and the store wants to make MONEY, NOBODY is gonna interrogate you...stranger shit happens to salespeople everyday than someone not answering their inappropriate questions. Of course, when I go out looking to score free compost from a farm...it's a different story.
