What does everyone think is best? cold shocking, the fork scraping thing? add wet sterile verm, what do i do? I put these casings in the terrarium 1.5-2 weeks ago and have been keeping them at about 72 degrees and 93-98% humidity, and fan air in for a few secs about 4 times a day when i check on them. They get no light unless i'm fanning them. they seem to be totally colonized and like a firm sheet now. what should i do to induce pinning?

Do you mist? What is the casing? Is it still moist? If it is overlay(if the surface won't absorb water when you mist it is overlay) you probably want to deep scratch (with sterile fork or similar object) and maybe even add a little more casing to colonize although that may not be necessary.

i mist every 3-4 days or so.....when ever the wet perlite in the bottom of the terrarium isn't keeping the humidity above 93%.
my casing is sterile damp verm on top and bottom of the crumpeled cakes.
the cakes are a lil dry, going to scrape them and add a lil more sterile damn very.
thanks for the help. i picked that one shroom that popped up, it weighed an 8th. its my b-day so o decided to eat it. the screen is starting to move. Muahahahaha

cold shock it and bring it back up to temp...if that doesnt work i dont know what to tell ya.
i have a feeling a shock will work, and the solid sheet of mycelium will blow up quick.

The light thing was the first thing I noticed as well...do give them light, and they will give you back shrooms....cheers.

You say DO give them light eh? What do you think about running a string of say 20 white christmas lights up the terrarium, and run them for what? 1 hour a day?
what sort of lightsource IS needed??

Yes Psilocybe Cubensis is a phototropic mushroom and as such it needs light to initiate fruiting(mushroom growth).
Apparantly if there is enough light to see them then thats enough .
You seem to have grown the mycelium to the point of overlay whereby the mushrooms will most probably only grow around the edges - you might need to scrape the top layer to get the casings to fruit properly .

thanks for your help guys, i scraped with a fork and i gave them a lil light today. set the terrariums by the window for about 15 min. How long do they need light on them every day? thanks

give them at least one hour everyday but up to about 5 wouldn't hurt!
