Midi Sequencing Software

Does anyone know of a good Midi Sequencing software which allows you to write your own custom editing functions? I have been using Cakewalk's products since they came out on DOS machines and have written numerous editing routines and macros in CAL (Cakewalk Application Language). The latest version of Cakewalk's sequencing software (SONAR 5) has dropped cal functions from it's menus. I would like to get a different package. I am not opposed to using Unix or Linux, and will probably go away from the Windoze platform altogether (because it SUX), maybe Mac OSX. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Note: Mods, please forgive me for the double post but I'm putting the questions to two different audiences. If you must delete one of my posts, please delete the one from the forum you think would get the least number of responses.

actually most of them support scripting in one capacity or another. (i'm a engineer so i do this all day). and if you are going to work on a mac (using logic) applescript is way to write scripts that can inface with the software in incredable ways...
if all else fails i believe there are some thirdparty freeware progs that will take midi data and process it.
what exactally are you trying to do? i remember in the early cakewalks things like splitting note ranges to separate tracks was done using the CAL script, but that is all part and parcel of modern software...
though i use macs at the shop, windows only sucks if you let it suck, wrangle that motherfucker under control and it is WAY more stable that it used to be. it's finding it's way into professional editing houses more and more, expecially since ditching the old DOS core and using proper 32bit NT core for the base of xp.
the only drag of switching to unix/linux/freeBSD is the lack of active software support, but it all you need is midi and not VST plugs and the like, it'll work.

I have old scripts which take sung tracks processed through a pitch to midi converter and massage the note data to make it work. Since the human voice (well, mine at least) seldom holds an exact pitch, new midi note and pitch bend events are generated by the converter. Using a device placed in my mouth while singing notes (not words) to generate a separate event, I used this event to help me determine the actual start of each note. Then the various converter note and bend events are processed to create one note for each intended note with adjusted bend events based on the corrected note.
All this was done with CAL (Cakewalk Application Language) scripts, originally in cakewalk for DOS and then upgraded with each version. The latest version of Sonar doesn't even have a run CAL menu option anymore.
